Better Roots. Better Plants.

Not only does Root Quencher reduce water waste and cut costs, but it's also guaranteed to give you a more efficient, healthier garden. It's time to ditch surface watering and upgrade to smarter hydration.

Healthier Plants

Water carries dissolved minerals and nutrients that are essential for healthy plants. Deep root hydration ensures they are always absorbed.

Saves Water

Deep root watering protects precious water from evaporation.

Targets Roots Directly

Roots have a large surface area, making them perfectly designed for absorption.

Reduces Time Spent Watering

Simply efficient watering.

How Root Quencher® Spike Works

Root Quencher®

Dig and install Root Quencher in minutes

Dig a narrow hole to a depth that matches your plant's roots. Adjust the Root Quencher accordingly and place the Root Quencher inside.

Connect to your irrigation line or hose

Simply connect your barbed to your garden hose and its opposite end to the Root Quencher.

Adjust the depth and flow to match tree root needs

Adjust the Flow Control Valve to give your plant’s roots the necessary hydration.

Root Quencher Jr®

Easily install in containers or small beds

Using a trowel, simply dig a small hole 6 inches deep for Root Quencher to slide into.

Hook up to your hose system

Attach the ½" Male NPT fitting into the Root Quencher Jr. Then, attach the opposite of this fitting into the T-barbed fitting connected to the drip line.

Hydrate shrubs and smaller plants at the root level

Reapply the cap and adjust the Flow Control Valve to begin the deep root hydration!

Root Quencher® Spike

Insert Root Quencher® Spike

To hydrate smaller roots, simply insert the spike into raised beds, planters, or compact soil.

Connect using standard drip fittings

To connect, place the Root Quencher® Spike over your ¼-inch drip line. Then, gently pierce a hole to access the water supply.

Saturate a 2'x2' area directly at the root zone

Twist the cap to begin the deep root hydration!

What Gardeners Are Saying

Still Have Questions?

Can I use a Root Quencher® if I don’t have a sprinkler system?

IDI sells the parts to connect the RQ to a hose bib and we even sell hose bib timers, so no, you do not need a sprinkler system.

Can I install the RQ in a drip system?

Yes you can, ideally to a ½ drip line directly into the valve on the RQ. Be careful to balance volume between the RQ and the rest of the system

What is the difference between the RQ and Rainbird’s RWS?

The RWS has several different sizes available and you have to know the soil conditions and tree needs before buying. Also there is no way to increase or decrease water volume in the RWS and no practical way to fertilize in their device. With the Root Quencher you can adjust the flow, the depth of the device and mix fertilizer in the chamber. One size fits all needs

Is it possible to water too much through the RQ?

Yes it is, and when setting the RQ valve, be conservative on water and set it to fill once during the cycle (1 gallon).

How does the RQ differ from the Tree Gator?

The Tree Gator is a bag that is placed around the tree trunk filled with water that seeps into the ground to water. The RQ waters in the ground at the roots.
